john j. george | vice president + creative director As vice president of lovio george, George works with Founder, President and CEO, Christina Lovio, to continue the growth of the nearly 30-year-old Detroit agency. It was George who brought the in-house creative element to the agency and today his award-winning creative can be found in campaigns with international reach including clients such as EWI Worldwide, Cranbrook, the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy and Detroit Symphony Orchestra. This EMMY®-winning creative director leads the process in creating branding and creative campaigns, design and art direction. He recently led the global identity process to re-brand the multi-national company EWI Worldwide, a global, live communications company made up of four specialty divisions including Exhibit Works (Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Shanghai and Winston-Salem). His client work is impressive, including Detroit Super Bowl XL Host Committee, Detroit RiverFront Conservancy, Cadillac Coffee, the Detroit Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau, the 35th Ryder Cup, Cranbrook Educational Community and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. George and his creative team designed all creative materials for Detroit's 300th birthday, including billboards, print, radio and television ads and official merchandise. Partnering with Academy Award-winning filmmaker, Sue Marx, George created television spots with Stevie Wonder to promote the Detroit 300 Celebrity Homecoming Concert. The campaign was a success, winning the agency an EMMY. George's work has been recognized with some of the creative world's most influential competitions such as the CADDY Awards, EMMY Awards and MOBIUS International Advertising Awards. He has been instrumental in the agency's philosophy of doing work that matters, working with non-profit organizations like the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, CreateDetroit, Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan, Mexicantown and National Kidney Foundation of Michigan. A resident of Grosse Pointe, George is a graduate from Arizona State University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Design and a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing. Before joining lovio george, he worked as a designer for SG Hauser Associates in Calabasas, California. George is a graduate of Leadership Detroit Class XXVI and is an advisory board member for the Mexicantown International Welcome Center & Mercado. |
