Christina Lovio-George, Founder, President and CEO of lovio george, is a leading communications professional whose more-than 30 years of experience and dedication to Detroit continues to influence the transformation of the city and change the conversation about Detroit.

She founded lovio george nearly 30 years ago in a 1904 building located in the heart of Midtown Detroit, at a time when most businesses were leaving the city. Starting the business with just herself and one employee, Lovio-George now leads a progressive team of communication and creative professionals and her agency is a leader amongst Detroit and regional public relations and marketing agencies. lovio george services clients in all fields, including travel and tourism, retail, entertainment, special events, non-profit, professional services and destination marketing.

Lovio-George has led some of the region's most notable marketing campaigns, including Detroit 300, the 35th Ryder Cup, the Detroit Super Bowl XL Host Committee, Campaign for Cranbrook, GM River Days and the 90th PGA Championship. She is currently guiding campaigns for One D, the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy, Michigan Department of Transportation, United Solar Ovonic and Cranbrook.

Lovio-George worked with the Detroit Super Bowl XL Host Committee for more than four years to develop a successful national and regional media relations and marketing campaign for Super Bowl XL. This commitment resulted in unprecedented positive national press across the country - totaling more than 223 million media impressions during Super Bowl XL week alone with 90 percent positive coverage.

Most recently she worked with the One D, a collaboration to transform Detroit into one of the world's great regions, at the 2007 Mackinac Policy Conference where the strategy focuses on thinking and acting regionally for the greater good of the region. Lovio-George also worked with the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy to launch the first significant opening of new public space on the Detroit International Riverfront since its inception in early 2003 - opening more than 75 percent of the East Riverfront project in June 2007.

She was the first woman to serve as the Chairman of the Board for the Detroit Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau and currently serves as a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors. She is a member of the Image Tag Team of the Tourism Economic Development Council and the Board of Visitors for the College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts at Wayne State University.

She serves on multiple board committees, including: Henry Ford Hospital Board of Trustees, Detroit Metro Sports Commission Board, Advisory Board of Detroit Synergy, Sister to Sister: Everyone Has a Heart Foundation and Artserve - Governor's Awards for Art and Culture.

Lovio-George participates in a number of professional organizations, including Adcraft and Public Relations Society of America. Recognized for her outstanding work in the marketing communications industry, she has received the Small Business Achievement Award at the Michigan Business & Professionals Association's Annual Women and Leadership in the Workplace Conference; was named one of the 2002 "Michigan's 95 Most Powerful Women" by Corp Magazine; 1998 "Communicator of the Year" by the International Association of Business Communicators; a 1996 "Top 25 Women Business Owners of Distinction" by the Greater Detroit Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners; 1995 Alumni Achievement Award from Wayne State University-PRSSA; and 1986 "Headliner of the Year" by the Women of Wayne Alumni Association, among other accolades.

Lovio-George has published a spectrum of articles, including several cover stories in business publications, such as Sales and Marketing Management, Advertising Age and Incentive Magazine. She also contributed to the book, 1000 Ways to Reward Employees.
